Congress complaint leads to EC directive: "BJP's video targeting muslims to be removed"
Debashish Dhar, the BJP candidate from Birbhum constituency, has faced a setback as his nomination has been cancelled by the authorities. The cancellation reportedly stems from Dhar's failure to provide a 'no duty' certificate issued by the state government. Reacting to the cancellation, Dhar expressed intent to challenge the decision in court at the earliest opportunity.
The development follows a warning from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a recent meeting in Birbhum, where she asserted that her government had not granted approval to Dhar's candidature. Despite filing his nomination papers earlier in the week and engaging in continuous campaigning since then, Dhar's bid for candidacy now faces legal scrutiny.
